The flange body is made to slide over the pipe, while the inner hole contains the outer diameter of the pipe
The slip on flange operates by slipping over the end of the pipe and being welded at both top and bottom
The flange is then bolted to the other element of the piping system- i.e., valve, pump or other pipe after welding
